Empowered Pregnancy officially opened the doors in 2019 and began seeing new patients realizing the dream of giving women the opportunity to give birth in a beautiful comforting setting under the safe observation of certified midwifery guidance.
Your home-away-from-home birth experience
Our nurse-midwives facilitate natural childbirth while carefully monitoring the physical, psychological and social well-being of you and your baby. Our professionally trained birth team is with you throughout the laboring process actively providing support and encouragement in order to bring your individualized birth plan to fruition.
All of your health care needs in one convenient location
As an expecting mother at Empowered Pregnancy, you will meet with the same provider during all of your prenatal appointments leading up to, and including, your birth allowing parents the peace of mind knowing that your nurse-midwife is with you every step of the way. Midwifery appointments offer personalized care guided by evidence-based practices that promote safety in an out-of-hospital setting. We have designed our prenatal visits to allow ample time to answer your questions and develop a relationship for shared decision making.
Research has shown that for normal, healthy, low-risk pregnancies giving birth with a Certified Nurse Midwife, in a nationally accredited birth center, is as safe as having a baby in a hospital. Kim (CNM, MS, ARNP) has relied on her 20 plus years of experience to develop the ultimate out-of-hospital birth experience while focusing on the safety of mother and baby. Our birth suites feature large tubs and showers perfect for hydrotherapy and water birth. Each suite has a rebozo hook, along with different sizes of rebozos, to facilitate our mothers with squatting and relief of tired muscles. All of our rooms are set up to provide aromatherapy, music therapy, massage with hot stones and plenty of room to move around. Our providers have been trained in acupressure and we have a massage therapist on staff who can attend your birth.
After your newborn’s birth, our nurse-midwife offers continuous support for both mother and baby. Your nurse-midwife will provide an in-home visit for mother and baby 24-48 hours after leaving the birth center. Your nurse-midwife is available around the clock to provide lactation support, answer questions and ensure that everyone is doing well. A mother can also choose to have her nurse-midwife continue to care for her infant during the first 28 days of their life. During the six weeks postpartum period your nurse-midwife is there to help with lactation, give guidance in being a new parent and to provide weekly assessments. Further, the midwife will perform weight checks with your baby and will discuss future contraception. After your postpartum period has concluded, your nurse-midwife is trained and licensed to provide all future gynecological and primary care needs that you may desire.
